Tab Hygiene — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 May 2026
Tab Hygiene does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
What stays in your browser
- Tab activity (URLs, titles, last-used timestamps) — stored only in your browser's local storage. Never sent anywhere.
- Settings, custom rules, excluded domains — stored locally.
- Closed-tabs archive — stored locally.
- License status — cached locally; refreshed via ExtensionPay only when the cache expires (every 6 hours) or when the user explicitly purchases or starts a trial.
What we do not do
- No analytics, no telemetry, no usage tracking — ever.
- No accounts. No login required for the free tier.
- No advertising. No data sharing with third parties.
- No remote code execution.
- No connections to any server operated by Tab Hygiene — we don't run any.
Optional payment
If you purchase Tab Hygiene Pro ($19 one-time) or start the 14-day free trial, payment and trial enrollment are handled by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), which uses Stripe for payment processing. We receive only your purchase status (paid/trial/free) and email address — never your payment details. See ExtensionPay's privacy policy at extensionpay.com/privacy and Stripe's at stripe.com/privacy.
Permissions
Tab Hygiene requests the minimum permissions needed for its functionality. For details on each permission and why it's needed, see the listing on the Chrome Web Store.
Verifying these claims
You can verify everything above:
- Open Chrome DevTools (F12), go to the Network tab, and watch traffic while using Tab Hygiene. You will see no outgoing connections from the extension itself.
- Inspect the extension's storage in chrome://extensions → Tab Hygiene → details → Inspect views → service worker → Application tab → Storage. All your data lives locally there.
